[Ah yes, the wonderful Die-jo. It's a place for the swords to be proud of, and for Hijikata to be proud of getting their very own glass Jiji put on the list of non-fightable opponents. It's pretty busy though, and for now Horikawa has only been standing idly at Hijikata's side for a while as he observes the spars occurring here and there for the past little while. He isn't exactly restless, so to speak, but when a thought crosses his mind he doesn't think to shy away from suggesting it.]
Hmm... Hijikata-san, the weather sure is beautiful today, huh? [Emphatic look out the window. Look at those spring cherry blossoms!! Nudge nudge, wink wink.] Don't you think it would be nice to walk through the park while we wait for a chance to use the grounds?
[Who appreciates a setting like this more than the Ever Poetic Hijikata, after all?]

[ SO AFTER NEARLY STABBING HIJIKATA TO DEATH, the best option left to tsurumaru, of course, is to go check up on him! to see how he's doing! to maybe redress his bandages and to bring him nice things to eat!
but even if that isn't too logical, he's here now, a plastic grocery bag slung around his wrist. inside are some sweet buns that he's picked up from a nearby store, along with some dango, because he's heard that sweet foods make humans happy— and if that's true, then it looks as if hijikata could certainly use a lot of these...

[As usual, Horikawa has taken it upon himself to do every single chore that exists in Hijikata's apartment ー they've been increasing, by the way, since the number of residents is slowly crawling upwards. For now he's gathering the general laundry, which he may usually leave for later when there's a full load, but as things are... Ah yes, a certain comment has him very concerned at the idea of leaving any kind of leftover work which could prove detrimental for his previous master's health. So he's feeling pretty good about doing this! Pretty good until, when he slowly opens up Hijikata's door he finds him... still awake...

[ between the last time he's seen hijikata and now, tsurumaru's learned a lot of things — like how hijikata believes that plums are plums, and all sorts of embarrassing poetry shenanigans that kashuu had unveiled on the network. but he'd also noticed several other things — like the recent, quiet stillness of hijikata's apartment; the somber air that it now carries, and how lifeless that it feels.

Long enough for Lili to try to find some sense of normalcy with her routine after recovering from the trauma of it all. - 2016-02-26 19:43 (UTC) - Expand[ so after sneaking a look at identia to find out hijikata's birthday, tsurumaru's spent weeks laboriously putting together a big compilation of a variety of items that he thinks that hijikata might like. getting the items together in the first place was pretty easy, because he gets super duper fussy if hijikata even tries to crawl out of bed.
ANYWAY, he slowly wheels this bigass box into hijikata's room, which he slowly starts unpacking for him, because there is a lot to go through:
when he's finished unwrapping everything, tsurumaru looks towards him, then makes his way back over, gently pressing the paper into hijikata's hand. there's a nervous laugh, as he scratches at his cheek, but he inhales once, before he says — ]
Happy birthday, Hijikata.
ANYWAY, he slowly wheels this bigass box into hijikata's room, which he slowly starts unpacking for him, because there is a lot to go through:
➟ a massage chair, as indicated by the big, box packaging that it's still contained inside.
➟ a bunch of DVDs, some of which consist of sad dog movies, like marley and me.
➟ a variety of collars (gold, leather, etc), with leashes. some of these came from the pet store, and some of these came from the boutique that tsuru works at.
➟ a book on how to write better poetry. it comes with a note taped to it that says, hogyoku, you need this :P
➟ a whole collection of markers (not necessarily for hijikata, but to make him suffer... as you'll see later)
➟ a small tan and white dog plushie! it looks like a mix between a chihuahua and a pom. it's a particularly soft brand, perfect for keeping people warm on lonely nights.
➟ a black hairclip accessory! it's lacquered and looks (and is) super expensive, and it even has an intricate glass flower attached to its top, glazed in yellow with smaller green leaves around it made of a similar glass material.
➟ a very, very important card, with little ironic hearts drawn in. it looks as if a child drew them.
there are also very recent editions, too, because these are food items and he can't store them weeks in advance:
➟ a tub of green ice cream.
➟ a cake that has 3 big candles and 3 small candles. he's even brought a lighter for the candles!!
➟ and finally, a paper that says, "happy 33rd (181st) birthday, hijikata!".
when he's finished unwrapping everything, tsurumaru looks towards him, then makes his way back over, gently pressing the paper into hijikata's hand. there's a nervous laugh, as he scratches at his cheek, but he inhales once, before he says — ]

[ just as promised, tsurumaru's gone out and picked up a particular puppy from the pet shop — with both the puppy and all of its little accessories dutifully paid for by mikazuki's trove of credits. both the carrier and the bag of dog-care goodies have been placed in the living room, but he's carefully coaxed the puppy from its cage, holding it in his arms and then stepping VERY very quietly to hijikata's room. ]

after slipping his shoes off, he starts heading towards the kitchen, to set these bags down; not that they're heavy, but running errands has somehow managed to teach tsurumaru the art of responsibility — which includes putting things away right after buying them. ]
